Description
A silver tablespoon (American, New Haven, 1764-1770) made by Connecticut silversmith Hazekiah Silliman (American, 1738-1804). The spoon has an elongated oval bowl, the reverse of which is molded with an oblong oval drop centering on a smaller pointed drop. The rounded molded handle is monogrammed on the reverse with the initials “MW.” The handle, on the reverse towards the bowl, is struck with two touch marks, each reading “HS” in Roman block letters within a square punch.
