Description
A silver tablespoon (American, Newport, mid-late 18th century) made by William Hookey (American, c. 1728-1812). The spoon has a deep pointed oval bowl, the reverse of which is molded with a pointed oval drop. The long slender handle is monogrammed in fancy engraved script with the initials “SM” (or possibly “WS”) below the number “2.” The reverse is partially stuck with the touch mark “WH” within an oblong punch.
