Four sterling silver weighted candlesticks (American, 20th century) by Black, Starr & Frost – Gorham. The candlesticks have removable candle cups above Corinthian column stems and end in square stepped bases. On the underside they are stamped “BLACK, STARR & FROST”, below this is the Gorham trademark of a lion, anchor, and the letter “G”, below the Gorham mark is the number “241”, beneath which is a stamped shell mark.
After the Frost family lost its fortune in the 1929 stock market crash Gorham became the majority interest holder of the firm.
