Description
A porcelain compote (German, unknown date) in the rococo style, likely manufactured in Dresden. The compote is decorated in a palette of predominately teal and gold against a white ground with colorful floral sprays throughout. The top cup is flared open and the sides resemble leaves, the center of the cup is decorated with floral sprays, the top cup is supported by a stem which leads to a diamond shaped base with four circular depressions, each with a floral spray at center, molded porcelain flowers are applied throughout. Two handles are on either side of the base. A maker’s mark in underglaze blue, similar in form to Meissen’s crossed swords, is painted on the base of the central column.
