Description
A set of twelve plates (English, c. 1930) produced by Soho Pottery Co., Stoke-on-Trent, under their ambassador ware brand and distributed by Fondeville and Co., New York. The plates are decorated at center with various transfer-print fish in underwater settings. The settings are hand colored and enclosed by thick cobalt blue borders with gilt line edging and a gadrooned molded gilt rim. They are marked on the reverse in black transfer-print “FONDEVILLE / AMBASSADOR / WARE / ENGLAND” within a seal shaped logo and “REG. U.S. PAT. OFF” below.
