A pair of architectural models (Italian, c. 1890) made of sienna marble, both stand on black slab bases.
.1 – This architectural model is after the Roman Temple of Vespasian, restored by Septimius Severus in A.D. 203. The model is formed with three fluted Corinthian columns standing on a corner wall of cut marble, the columns support an elaborate cornice inscribed on the left with “(R)ESTITVER” and with a raised frieze on the right.
.2 – This architectural model is after the Roman Temple of Castor and Pollux erected in B.C. 495, it was restored from the foundations and again consecrated in A.D. 6. The model is formed by a row of three fluted Corinthian columns standing on a wall of cut marble, the columns support four pieces of marble with incised decoration.
