Description
A silver soldered presentation tureen (American, c. 1870) made by Gorham Manufacturing Co., Providence, RI. The circular tureen has a lid topped with a rearing boar final, two side ring handles emanating from the mouths of applied boar heads, and stands on a laurel-ringed footed base. The ovoid body is engraved with the script monogram “ALW” for Annie Louisa Westcott (later Mrs. Fordham Morris). The underside is impressed with an anchor mark above “GORHAM MFG CO / 070 / SILVER SOLDERED / D.”
