Description
A polychrome floral and gilded dinner plate (English, mid-late 19th century) manufactured by Coalport and retailed by Gilman Collamore and Co., New York. The plate has a gilded serpentine edge and a blue serpentine border design. It is decorate with four floral bouquets with pink, blue, red, yellow, and purple flowers with green leaves against a white ground. The plate is stamped on the reverse with several marks, the first in red reads “ ‘OLD COALPORT.’ / PERIOD, / 1825.”, beneath this in blue surrounding a crown is “ENGLAND / COALPORT / A.D. 1750”, and beneath this in red is “GILMAN COLLAMORE & Co / FIFTH AVE & 30th ST. / NEW YORK.”
