Description
An Aesthetic Movement faux bamboo gold-painted corner chair (America, c. 1880). The back is composed of bamboo-shaped pine turned splats which interlock in a grid design to three turned posts, these connected to the caned seat, which is supported by four turned legs with double ringed conforming stretchers. In its whimsical trellis grid design, straight lines and simplicity, the design of this faux-bamboo corner chair follows the precepts of the Anglo-Japonesque style.
