Description
A mahogany writing chair (American, 1892-1895) made by William Baumgarten & Co., NY, designed by Emile Baumgarten (American, 1865-1922) for use in The Breakers Billiard Room. The chair has a roll-over top rail carved at the corners with foliage and a rectangular green velvet upholstered back rest. Molded armrests stand on four sided supports carved with foliage. The green velvet upholstered bow front seat is supported by four legs raised on casters. The front two legs are cabriole shaped and end in ball and claw feet, the back two are turned ringed legs that end in cylindrical feet.
