Description
A pair of Etruscan style cream-painted terra cotta thrones (French, late 19th century) attributed to Jean-Henri Jansen (Dutch, 1854-1928) for Maison Jansen of Paris, after the “Sedia Corsini” from the Palazzo Corsini in Rome. Each of the thrones has an everted semi-circular backrest decorated in low relief with a band of ivy along the top, below this is a frieze depicting a procession of soldiers, and below this is a frieze of a wild boar hunt. The circular seat is raised on a conforming base and has a lose red velvet cushion, the base of the throne is further ornamented with continuous relief friezes.
