Description
A pair of ormolu andirons (or chenets) (French, 19th century) made by Bouhon Frères, Paris. The andirons are surmounted by domed foliate finals which lead to a central columnar stand flanked by outset monopodium side supports with bearded and winged masks. The domed bases are decorated with a grotesque animal mask. The andirons are connected at the base by a detachable, twisted spiral traverse rail.
