Description
A Federal style nightstand (American, 19th century) composed out of carved mahogany. The nightstand has an oblong rectangular case with two drawers, each fitted with two ormolu foliate knob pulls. The corners of the case are carved with plantain leaf stiles, tuned pendent decoration hangs from the corners. The case stands on a bulbous leaf-carved pedestal base ending in four radiating paw feet raised on casters. Originally used at the Vanderbilt’s New York City address at 1 West 57th Street before being moved to The Breakers.
