Description
An ormolu and marble three-piece mantel garniture (French, 19th century) attributed to Raingo Frères (French, founded in 1823) and retailed by Tiffany & Co., NY. The garniture consists of a clock (.1) and two candelabra (.2a-e-.3a-e).
.1 - The clock has a white enamel dial decorated with floral garlands, is fitted with two brass hands, and reads “TIFFANY & Co.” in black just above center with “FRANCE” written below. The clock is contained in a rectangular pink marble case overlaid with foliate ormolu appliques and surmounted by a matching marble vase fitted with ormolu handles and contains ormolu flowers. The clock case stands on four toupie feet chiseled with foliage.
.2a-e-.3a-e – The pair of candelabras each stand on a square pink marble base with applied foliate ormolu bands supported by four topie feet chiseled with foliage. The central columns of the candelabra are surmounted by foliate finials above urn shaped bases. The two curved foliate candle arms lead to matching candle nozzles and drip pans.
