Description
Two white-painted Louis XVI style chairs (American, late 19th century) designed by Ogden Codman, Jr. (American, 1863-1951) and attributed to the manufacturer A. H. Davenport CO., Boston and East Cambridge, MA. The chairs have caned backs surmounted by a chapeau gendarme top rail and a shaped caned seat. The back and seat rails are carved with spiral ribbon and beaded molding. The chairs stand on four cylindrical tapered fluted legs caved at the top with block flower-head medallions.
