Description
A pair of Louis XVI ormolu mounted mahogany veneer and black lacquer occasional tables (French, late 18th century) with rectangular tops and pierced ormolu galleries centering on a gold-painted black lacquer panel depicting Asian figures in various pursuits, one within a water scene and another in a garden scene. The conforming apron features horizontal and vertical gold painted black lacquer panels depicting flowers and butterflies, the front with a single drawer and small ormolu knob handle on a leaf backplate. The whole is raised on four tapering inlaid legs headed by small black lacquer butterfly panels terminating in spade-shape feet.
