Description
A Regency giltwood jardiniere (French, c. 1720) with a recessed, rectangular top and a dished edge above sides with diaper work reserves centering on flowering vines. A metal plant basin would be places in the recessed top. The pierced apron is carved with C-scrolls, bellflowers, and shells. It is raised on cabriole legs, headed by acanthus leaves, carved with diaper work, and terminating in acanthus-clad hoof feet.
