Description
Twelve Louis XV style gilded bronze and crystal five light wall sconces and a forty-light chandelier (French, c. 1900) by Jules Allard & Sons of Paris after an 18th century Jacques Caffieri model. The chandelier (.1) has a gilded bronze cage composed of a large corkscrew twisted and central knob below four fluted vertical S-scrolls supporting twenty-five acanthus-clad candle arms and fifteen arms terminating in iris-shaped frosted glass shades, the whole is hung with garlands of crystal flowerheads and large crystal tear drops, the bottom with a floral bouquet drop finial. All of the candle arms are strung with glass bobeche. Each wall sconce (.2a-p-.13a-p) has a large scrolling leaf-form backplate supporting five acanthus-clad candle arms hung with crystal flowerheads and teardrops. Each light is covered by a silk shade.
