Description
A narrow oval bowl (French, 19th century) with splayed scrolled handles, decorated by Boyer, Reu de la Paix, Paris. The bowl is deep red with gilded edges along an open lattice-like top section and a closed basket-weave base. A central cartouche is painted with grapes and small flowers against a white ground on one side, the other side is painted with a floral bouquet. Above the cartouche is a gilt script monogram which appears to be “JEM.” The whole is raised on four scrolled white and gold feet. The underside is inscribed in green underglaze “Boyer / rue de la paix.”
