Description
A lidded and knobbed blown green glass vase (Bohemian, late 19th century) with painted armorial enamel decoration, done in the style of Ludwig Lobmeyr (Austrian, 1829-1917). The tapered cylindrical vase flares out at the bottom in a circular foot. The lid is surmounted by a turned finial. The vase is painted around the lid and opening rim with a Renaissance style lambrequin border, a gold dot border also encircles the lid, rim, and base. An Austro-Hungarian coat-of-arms crested by crowned helmets and surrounded by curling acanthus leaves decorates the central body, the enameled decoration is done in tones of blue, white, red, and gold. The vases is painted throughout with stylized florets. Raised knobs decorate the lid and base.
