Description
A dessert service (English, c. 1806) manufactured by Spode Ceramic Works, Stoke-on-Trent. The service is composed of two shell shaped dishes (.1-.2), a sauce tureen with a cover and stand (.3a-c), and twelve dessert plates (.4-.15). Each piece is decorated on a rich orange ground with blue and gold flowers, the dishes and plates have a central medallion reserve with the monogram “JHW” in gold script. The undersides of the pieces are marked “SPODE / 1104” in red, some are also marked with painter’s marks.
