Description
An eight-piece fire tool set (American, 19th century) composed of bronze with some iron. The set is comprised of a pair of andirons (.1-.2), two matching quarter circle tool stands (.3-.4), a set of large tongs (.5), a shovel (.6), a pair of small tongs (.7), and a poker (.8). The bronze andirons are in the form of barn owls perched on a pair of entwined serpents that are raised on molded pierced bases. The tops of the tool stands are decorated with a dragon in relief and pierced cloud forms. This set of tools is original to Chateau-sur-Mer.
