Description
A Chippendale wing chair (American, likely Newport, c. 1750-1790) composed out of mahogany with a royal blue cotton slipcover decorated with a stylized leaf design and yellow gimp borders. The chair has out swept arms below serpentine-shaped wings and an arched crest rail. The seat has a loose cushion, a straight rail, and the whole is raised on four legs. The front two legs are cabriole in shape and end in ball and claw feet, the rear splayed legs end in block feet. The legs are joined by H-shape and a rear spindle and block turned stretchers.
