Description
A Chippendale pole screen (Newport, c. 1760) composed out of mahogany. The pierced circular wood screen is attached with non-adjustable iron straps to a tall stem. The stem is surmounted by an acorn shaped finial and terminates in a baluster turned support raised on a tripod base. The knees of the three legs are decorated with stiff leaf carvings and the legs end in snake feet.
