Description
A footed arch-shaped mantel clock (English, 20th century) by Tiffany & Co., New York, with movement by H. Williamson Ltd. The case is painted with Chinoiserie designs, the front left corner of the case is painted with a bird perched among blooming flowers and the left corner with buildings in a landscape setting, the sides are painted with figures carrying vessels. The clock face is covered by a hinged glass cover, the silver dialed clock face is inscribed with Roman numerals and fitted with two hands. The clock face is inscribed “TIFFANY & CO / NEW YORK” and “MADE IN ENGLAND.” The reverse of the case has a hinged circular door which opens to reveal the inner works. The backplate is inscribed “COVENTRY / 7 (SEVEN) JEWELS UNADJUSTED / ASTRAL / TIFFANY & Co. / NEW YORK / MADE IN ENGLAND / 3454.” The clock case is raised on four brass pad feet. Originally from the collection at Kingscote.
