An oil on canvas portrait entitled “Mary Robinson Hunter” (American, 19th century) by an unknown artist. The painting depicts Mary Robinson Hunter (American, 1787-1863), the wife of Senator William Hunter (American, 1774-1849) of Hunter House, seated at three-quarter length facing the viewer. Mary appears to be dressed for mourning, she wears a black dress with a white lace collar and veil, her right arm rests on a draped table with a vase of flowers in the background behind her elbow.
