Description
A green jade (jadeite) pomander (Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th century). The round body has domed openwork sides carved with squirrels and grapevines in bright and pale green. The pomander is strung with a light gold cord with two hanging tassels.
Pomanders were used to contain aromatic herbs and were usually worn hung from a belt.
