Description
A platter (English, 1882) produced by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons. The oval majolica platter has a scalloped rim. The walls of the platter are decorated with a reticulated basket weave in ivory that is overlaid with green arches, along the side handles are groupings of large raised grape leaves and vines reaching toward the center. The center of the plate is encircled by a yellow rope border. The platter is decorated in the soft color palette of Argenta Ware, which distinguishes it from the earlier brightly colored majolica produced by Wedgwood.
