Description
A dinner plate (English, 1870) manufactured by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons. The plate is colorfully decorated around the rim with a butterfly, maple leaves, trailing flowers (orchids), and thistle against a white ground. The outer rim is bordered in orange. The underside of the plate is impressed “WEDGWOOD”, along with the date mark “CJY”, indicating an 1870 manufacture date, and the single letter “P”, it is numbered in black “9920 / 6”.
