A pair of dessert plates and a platter (English, 1871-1883) produced by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons.
.1 - .2 (Pair of Dessert Plates) = The plates are decorated at center with a stalk of blue plum blossoms against a white ground, the rims are decorated with brown floral patterns and blue flower reserves, the outer edge is glazed in turquoise. The underside of .1 is impressed with an asterisk and “WEDGWOOD” along with a three-letter date code and is marked in brown with the number “4”. The underside of .2 is impressed with an asterisk and “WEDGWOOD” along with a three-letter date code, it is marked in brown with the number “4” and in red with “A2094 / 4”.
.3 (Platter) = The oval platter is similarly decorated; the central decoration of blue plum blossoms is much larger. The underside of the platter is impressed with an asterisk, “WEDGWOOD”, the letter “M”, and the three-letter date code “DEL”, indicating an 1883 manufacture date, it is numbered in brown with “8” and the pattern number “A 2094 / T” in green.
