Description
An art pottery vase (French, c. 1880) signed Gille, Paris. The polychrome vase is decorated around the neck with repeating images of a lioness crushing a serpent and a griffin on yellow/gold bands against a light blue ground, the bulbous body is decorated with an asymmetrical design of a pink blooming clematis vine and winged insects. The underside is signed in blue glaze “Gille / Paris”.
