Description
A Chippendale-taste George II mahogany fire screen (English, c. 1750), retailed by the Duveen Brothers. The framework and legs of the screen are delicately carved with foliate scrollwork, the sides have gnarled vines and detachable crest with cross hatched panels. The whole screen is supported on two double scroll feet connected by a stretcher. The screen is upholstered in contemporary 18th century-style petit-point needlepoint and depicts an urn filled with flowers on a blue ground.
