Description
Four Japanese Yokohama Prints (Yokohama-e, ukiyo-e), completed in the years after Japan opened to Western trade. The woodblock prints show Japanese people and foreigners engaged in Western customs.
The four prints consist of:
.1 = Utagawa Yoshikazu (Japanese, active c. 1850-70), "Dutch Couple Drinking Wine" ("Orandajin sakamori"), 1861.
.2 = Utagawa Yoshikazu (Japanese, active c. 1850-70), "Games of Foreign Children" ("Gaikokujin danjo kodomo asobi"), 1860.
.3 = Utagawa Yoshitora (Japanese, active c. 1850-80), "Twilight, Looking at Wild Geese Flying Down Toward Yoshida Bridge", January 1861.
.4 = Artist unknown, Ōhashiya Yashichi (Ōhashi) publisher, "Outing of Foreign People in Yokohama" ("Kaika Meisho Ichiran-Yokohama Ijin-Kan")
