Description
A mantel clock (English, late 18th century) by Thomas Bucknell, Barkhamstead. The brass clock is housed within an ebonized wood case with a brass handle at the top and glass panels around the sides. The face of the clock is decorated with florals and swirls while a smaller dial above the clock offers the user the ability to switch between the clock being silent or striking. The brass clock dial is signed "Thos. Bucknell / Bankhamstead” who is recorded as a watchmaker working in 1740.
