Description
A pair of painted tole (tin plate) chestnut urns (English, mid-19th century). Each urn has double scroll handles and quatrefoil sections with painted white Japonesque chrysanthemums and gilt ferns. The decorations are on a black ground in imitation of Japanese lacquerware. The covers have gilt knobs in the shape of birds on pedestals.
