Photograph and photograph negative depicting the Pelham family coat of arms carved on the gravestone of Edward Pelham at the Common Burying Ground on Pelham Street in Newport, RI. Beneath the coat of arms is carved a phrase, part of which has been cut off by the edged of the photograph: "Here lieth Interred the body of Thomas Pelham the Son of Cap Edward Pelham and [...] Freelove his wife who deceas [...] May the 14 : 1724 in the 38 Year of his age." The negative is underexposed and very dark.
