Description
A trophy loving cup (American, c. 1931) made of sterling silver by Tiffany and Co., N.Y. and awarded to Anthony Barclay Rives (1909-1964) and George Barclay Rives Jr. (1910-1934). The handles of the trophy curve upward above the rim of the body and then slope down to connect to the tapered handle. At the bottom of the handle is a flared base which includes the Tiffany & Co. stamp along with “18636 MAKERS 7225 / STERLING SILVER / 025-1000” beneath. Inscribed on the face of the body is an award inscription reading “BATH COUNTY HORSE SHOW / HOT SPRINGS VA. / LADIES SADDLE CLASS / CHALLENGE CUP / PRESENTED BY / J. BERNARD FENWICH / AUGUST 22, 1930 / ANTHONY & GEORGE RIVES / AUGUST 15, 1931 / ANTHONY & GEORGE RIVES”.
