Description
A pill box (French, c. 1880) made of silver in a Rococo style with repoussé decorations and a vermeil interior wash. The oval box is topped with a hinged lid which depicts cherub heads floating on wings set against a scrolling patterned ground. Flowerheads, C-scrolls, and stylized cornucopias border the body of the box. Stamped into the base of the box are two marks, a bold “A” and a worn head in profile, facing left, wearing a helmet.
