Description
A snuff box (Dutch, 18th century) made of silver with a hinged lid and portrait bust. The lid of the box is inscribed with “Prins Willem De Vitde”, and features an oval-shaped central cartouche compartment that contains a miniature bust portrait of the Prince. Stamped on the back of the lid, above the hinge, is an illegible maker’s mark. Within the box are two marks, one the Dutch passant lion and the other, possibly the same as the one on the lid, reads “H13”.
