Description
A repoussée miniature mandolin (Dutch, c. 1880) made of silver. This stringed miniature mandolin is decorated with foliate scrollwork along the sides as well as the front and back of the neck. The front of the mandolin consists of a worn and obscured design of three nude figures while the scene on the back depicts two nude figures outside of a city or town’s walls. One figure is laying on the ground while the second supports their head, to the left is a horse looking the scene over.
