Description
A set of four lacquered wall panels and three matching over-door panels (Chinese from the K'ang Hsi Period, c. 1662 – 1722) retailed by Jules Allard & Sons, Paris. All are finely painted in tones of gold against a black ground, with figures strolling and conversing within elaborate pavilions enclosed by rockeries and foliage. The larger panels feature borders of landscape vignettes, Chinese Foo Dogs, and birds. The smaller panels feature graceful arrangements of flowering branches and songbirds.
