Description
A quart lidded pewter tankard (American, c. 1750) by Benjamin Day (1706-1757) of Newport. The tankard features a double domed lid, ram's horn thumbpiece, and bud terminal on handle. There is a decorative fillet above the bottom juncture of the handle and body. The pewter is very well proportioned, of a type produced in Colonial America and England. Marked inside bottom: "BD" in rectangle.
