Description
A dinner service (c. 1885) by Minton. Yellow ground dinner plates with three asymetrically arranged clusters of blue enamel painted plum branches or prunus decoration in Japonesque taste. The blue plum tree branches resemble bamboo shoots, but trail off into gold plum blossoms executed in raised gilding with a gilded border. This highly stylized, artist-designed, dinner service is amongst the highest level dinnerware produced by Minton in the late nineteenth-century.
