Mahogany, chestnut, white pine desk with serpentine front, replaced (but probably old) brasses with George Washington bust, lid is veneered and supported by brass arcs. Probably made in Rhode Island. Gift c. 1977; appeared in advertisement, John S. Walton. Ref: "antiques", august, 1972, p. 148. Given as a period piece, dated c. 1790. Probably colonial revival period.
