Description
The Honorable Josiah Stoddard Johnston (1784-1833), was born in Salisbury, Connecticut and died 19 May 1833 when he was killed by the explosion of Steamboat Lioness on Red River. Johnston was a graduate of Transylvania University in 1805, a member of Congress from Louisiana 1821-23, and a Senator 1824-33. He was a friend of Henry Clay.
