The engraving shows General John Sullivan’s troops advancing on the British from the vantage of Mr. Brindley’s property in Portsmouth, RI. Mr. Brindley’s property is in the foreground, along with a tent and horse-drawn cart. Military encampments and cannon fire can be seen in the hilly background against a cloudy sky.
