An engraving entitled "The Siege of Rhode Island taken from Mr. Brindley's House on the 25th of August, 1778" (American, 19th century). The engraving shows General John Sullivan’s troops advancing on the British from the vantage of Mr. Brindley’s property in Portsmouth, RI. Mr. Brindley’s property is in the foreground, along with a tent and horse-drawn cart. Military encampments and cannon fire can be seen in the hilly background against a cloudy sky.
